Ring: Where do you (or more importantly you son) live?

The reason I ask (as CosmicCharlie suggested) it's more likely that your son's experience is related to smoking Salvia than DMT.

I say that for two reasons: 1) DMT is not particularly easy to find / purchase, certainly not as easy as almost any other "drug", i.e., weed, coke, mushrooms, LSD, Ecstasy, etc. 2) Depending upon what state you live in (assuming you live in USA) Salvia is SUPER easy to get. In some states it is illegal (in Florida it's considered a schedule 1 drug, same as heroin & (unbelievably) marijuana) while in other states it's completely unregulated & therefore legal to buy. In states where it is unregulated, almost all "head shops" sell it for about $20/packet, & it comes in varying different strengths, i.e., 5X, 10X, 20X, 50X, & even 100X (which IMHO is absolute lunacy).

You can google "Salvia" for more info &/or search youtube for all kinds of videos of kids smoking it. Over the last few years Salvia has been extremely popular among high school / college age kids. Unfortunately, while like many natural substances (mushrooms, peyote, etc.) I think Salvia can have positive benefits, the potential for abuse is high. Most importantly as it relates to you / your son, Salvia is one of the strongest, most intense psychedelic substances one can ingest, and should only be done in the right setting & with an experienced user / coach / guide present who can help assist you on the journey. Further, if that is in fact what your son smoked, he definitely had no business smoking salvia without prior experience with other psychedlic substances, as Salvia is most definitely NOT for the uninitiated.

As others have written, I think it's very unlikely your son's delusional experiences (assuming they are/were drug-related) were due to smoking weed or even synthetic weed. Much more likely due to bath salts or Salvia. Either way, best of luck to your family, I hope everything works out OK & this ends up being a learning experience for your son.

So sorry you're having to deal with this ringolevio. It sounds a lot like what happened to one of my older brothers. He was around the same age and began to have similar problems: delusions of grandeur, manic energy, extreme sociability, etc. After a full on crazy episode my parents had him committed and he was diagnosed bi-polar although he certainly shows signs of paranoid schizophrenia. He had also started using various drugs in the year or two before the symptoms started but I really think it would have come out anyway. Mental illness seems to often find its first expression in the late teens when drug use is most common: coincidence not causation.

Best wishes to you and your family in dealing with this.

Unfortunately you CANNOT rule out ecstasy as a probable cause/trigger. You wouldn't if the product was actually pure MDA or MDMA, but as you can see from the below link quasi legal synthetics are more likely to be sold and misrepresented.
Check your location against this chart and see if any of the adulterated pills are circulating there.
Notice that some test as mephedrone ,which is bad news, but after time off or a med script / adjustment he can recover and show less apathy/mania.
Good Luck
